Bonjour!

Two months ago, I went to Paris with my school as part of a global learning course. The theme for this trip and the course in general was centered around fashion, ethics, and capitalism. Over the span of a semester, we’ve had discussions about the ways in which the fashion world are complicit in upholding outdated standards and harmful processes. However, we also learned how fashion is a component of identity and can be used in rather uplifting and beneficial ways. Going to Paris put all these ideas into perspective for me, so when we were tasked with putting together a blog about an aspect of our trip that ties together our experiences abroad and our lessons, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I’ve decided to focus on a group of people who are undoubtedly French but yet are still marginalized within the state — this blog is all about the African presence in Paris.
